DGFiP confirms data breach affecting 678,000 individuals and businesses

France’s Ministry of Economy and Finance confirmed unauthorised access to certain DGFiP information systems in June and July 2026 following the compromise of credentials. Investigations established that data relating to 678,000 individuals and professionals was consulted and extracted, while taxpayer online accounts and credentials were not compromised.

France establishes further regulations to finalize e-invoicing obligations

France has published legislative texts that complement its e-invoicing regulatory framework ahead of the September 2026 mandate. The recently published order and decree align with the recent 2026 Finance Law and further implement the preceding simplifications and tolerances announced in September 2025.

France raises 2026 VAT thresholds and recodifies tax law

France has revised its VAT exemption thresholds for 2026 while preparing to migrate tax rules from the CGI to a new code. The country will also require all businesses to receive electronic invoices from September 1, 2026, with larger firms obligated to issue them too.
