Thomson Reuters named an IDC Leader for Worldwide Compliant e-Invoicing

Thomson Reuters is now the only provider named a Leader across four IDC MarketScape categories: value-added tax, sales and use tax, global trade, and e-invoicing — delivering the full spectrum of truly global, connected compliance.

IDC has categorised Thomson Reuters as a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Compliant e-Invoicing Vendor Assessment (doc #EUR154882626, September 2026). This recognition reflects what our customers already know: our global e-invoicing and CTC solution, ONESOURCE Pagero, delivers the regulatory intelligence, network reach, and architectural flexibility that multinational organisations can depend on to stay constantly compliant across borders.

But here's what makes this recognition different: we’re the only provider holding IDC MarketScape Leader status for four compliance categories, covering Worldwide Compliant E-Invoicing Solutions, Worldwide Value-Added Tax Management (doc #US52732824, December 2024), Worldwide Sales and Use Tax Automation (doc #US52035324, December 2024), and Global Trade Management for Manufacturers and Exporters (doc #US53604225, December 2025) plus Global Trade Management for Retailers and Importers (doc #US51573724, December 2025).

That's not a coincidence. It reflects a deliberate strategy to absorb regulatory- and international business complexity on behalf of customers, enabling enterprises to automate processes, elevate data quality, and embed AI-driven intelligence on one platform.

What IDC saw: A partner ready for the full scope of modern compliance

IDC evaluated vendors on their ability to help enterprises navigate the fast-evolving world of e-invoicing mandates — from clearance models in LATAM, to Peppol interoperability in Europe, to post-audit regimes across APAC. The assessment looked at compliance breadth, technical architecture, customer outcomes, and strategic vision.

Reflecting on the evaluation, IDC's Senior Director for Enterprise Research Applications, Kevin Permenter, commented:  “Many organisations are moving beyond point compliance projects and looking for a more sustainable approach to managing e-invoicing obligations globally. Thomson Reuters brings together in-house regulatory expertise, global compliance coverage, and the scale and interoperability of the ONESOURCE Pagero Network. That combination is particularly relevant for organisations looking to manage e-invoicing requirements consistently across diverse markets and trading ecosystems.”

In the report, ONESOURCE Pagero stood out for three core strengths:

Tax and regulatory depth. The in-house tax and regulatory experts at Thomson Reuters continuously monitor legislative developments, engage with tax authorities, and participate in initiatives such as EU ViDA pilots. Their insights feed directly into the ONESOURCE Pagero solution, helping customers stay ahead of multiple new mandates and regulatory changes. IDC noted that "customers express strong confidence in its legislative coverage and depth," recognising the combination of regulatory expertise, authoritative content, and technology that helps organisations remain compliant across 90+ jurisdictions.

Broad, natively delivered coverage across AP and AR. IDC highlighted our "wide country coverage, dependable inbound and outbound flows, and flexible formats, backed by native coverage that reaches LATAM rather than leaning on partners." That native approach means fewer handoffs, clearer accountability, and faster response when mandates shift.

Convergence of e-invoicing, reconciliation, and tax. The report underscored our ability to link determination, clearance, and e-invoice-to-VAT-return reconciliation on a single platform, addressing the gap between commercial and cleared documents that ViDA reporting rules will sharpen. For enterprises managing compliance across multiple jurisdictions, that means one system adapting to new requirements rather than three or more.

Pressure is rising — transformation is non-negotiable

The pressure on tax and finance teams is intensifying. Mandates are arriving faster than organisations can keep up with. Workloads are expanding while headcounts remain flat. And most businesses are one unexpected mandate away from a difficult quarter of scrambling to integrate new point solutions, coordinate across vendors, and manage compliance risk in real time.

Our Leader position reflects a different approach: delivering an agile and flexible compliance infrastructure to deliver connected operations. Thomson Reuters is converging determination, clearance, and reconciliation natively. ONESOURCE provides one system, one audit trail, and one trusted source that carries you from compliance to strategic and AI-assisted tax management.

Being named a Leader again by IDC MarketScape is proof that our approach works: bringing tax determination, e-invoicing, continuous transaction controls, and regulatory intelligence together into one connected system is exactly the kind of innovation this market needs right now,” said Ray Grove, Global Head of Product, at Thomson Reuters. “Compliance is becoming more digital, more continuous, and more fragmented every year, and we've built ONESOURCE Pagero to close those gaps before they become a challenge for our customers. That's what we believe leadership in this space looks like, and we intend to keep setting the pace.”

ONESOURCE technology enables organisations to keep pace with evolving e-invoicing and reporting rules without constantly reconfiguring their compliance processes. The platform connects e-invoicing to determination and reconciliation in a single system, so organisations aren't buying and integrating a new tool every time a country changes its rules.

Built on 175 years of trust, designed for what's to come

For over 175 years, Thomson Reuters has helped professionals navigate complexity. ONESOURCE Pagero extends that legacy, helping companies meet the compliance challenges of today and tomorrow with a combination of trusted content, innovative technology and steadfast partnership.

We also support the way global enterprises actually operate: multi-entity, multi-ERP and multi-region. When it comes to e-invoicing alone, our established internal format supports more than 120 standards. We offer certified connectors for SAP, Oracle, Workday and Microsoft Business Central, alongside more than 200 partner connectors and REST APIs. And we work closely with the advisory and ERP partners, including Deloitte and Oracle, that multinational organisations already trust.

What further sets Thomson Reuters apart is our combination of technology, authoritative content and Fiduciary-Grade AI ™. Our increasingly touchless AI capabilities are embedded in the systems you already use, connected across your compliance ecosystem, and intelligent enough to adapt as regulations evolve. ONESOURCE is grounded in trusted regulatory, tax and legal content developed and maintained by experts. This means that organisations can move beyond basic automation to make more confident compliance decisions.

As e-invoicing becomes the data backbone of modern tax compliance, that combination of connected data, deep domain expertise and AI-driven intelligence gives businesses a stronger foundation for whatever comes next.

The path forward

E-invoicing compliance is no longer a regional concern or a back-office project. It's a strategic capability that touches procurement, finance, tax, IT, and trading partner relationships. And, increasingly, it's the foundation on which modern tax compliance is built.

Getting it right means fewer compliance risks, faster cash cycles, cleaner data, and stronger relationships with authorities and partners alike. Joining a connected platform means you're ready for e-invoicing developments, whether that's a new mandate, a new reporting requirement, or a new way of thinking about tax altogether.
