Italy issues implementing rules for automated VAT assessment on omitted returns
The Italian Revenue Agency has published the implementing rules for the automated VAT assessment procedure that applies where an annual VAT return is omitted. The rules define how assessments are calculated, what options taxpayers have upon receiving a notice, and what follows if the amount due remains unpaid.
Italy launches public consultation on ViDA directive implementation
Italy has opened a public consultation on draft rules implementing part of the EU's ViDA package, covering VAT changes due to apply from January 1, 2027. The proposal mainly concerns OSS, IOSS and Single VAT Registration measures affecting cross-border sellers, platforms and businesses moving goods within the EU.
Italy provides additional clarification on POS linking to electronic cash registers
The Italian Revenue Agency has provided further guidance clarifying certain scenarios when electronic payment instruments must be linked to electronic cash registers under the 2025 Budget Law.
